Curated and executed with precise care by Capsule Arts, the centre hosts a thoughtfully selected collection of artworks and accessories embodying the essence of traditional architecture, arts, and crafts.

The art collection draws inspiration from a multifaceted array of elements, each contributing to a narrative that unfolds in rich and varied layers. Details of the landscape manifest in organic and delicate forms, mirroring the patterns found in the desert dunes, juxtaposed with the robust and geometric elements inherent in Najdi architecture.

The team's commitment to authenticity was demonstrated through extensive research and several sourcing trips conducted to find and select items, ensuring a diverse and genuine representation. Notably, the majority of artworks and accessories are locally sourced within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presenting a platform that highlights the exceptional talents of the local community.

Amongst the artworks on display are the works of Saudi artist Saad Al-Howede, whose textile embroideries exemplify his commitment to preserving heritage through the lens of memory. These pieces, part of a set of nine, explore the intricate interplay between tradition and recollection. Elsewhere, Saudi artist Samah Bahajri creates contemporary textile artworks that are inspired by traditional patterns, weaving, and embroidery, inviting the viewer to witness a new modern interpretation.

In addition, many items were carefully designed in-house by Capsule Arts, working collaboratively with artisans to create pieces that are bespoke for the project. Drawing inspiration from the timeless allure of traditional Najdi heritage, Capsule Arts seamlessly translates these cherished elements into contemporary works of art and decorative accessories, adding a unique touch that enhances the overall experience.

Within the collection are two series of framed objects – artisan-made traditional clothing and adornments artfully arranged in contemporary compositions – personifying a fusion of tradition and modernity. The juxtaposition of these artisanal pieces within sleek frames not only preserves the essence of cultural heritage but also transforms them into captivating works of art, inviting viewers to appreciate the timeless beauty woven into the fabric of tradition.

Another series of framed artworks, inspired by Najdi architecture elements, features layers of intricate paper-cuts arranged in contemporary compositions. Simultaneously, a set of photographs capturing At-Turaif, the UNESCO World Heritage Site at the heart of Diriyah and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, characterized by its remarkable mud-brick architecture, features an innovative use of Najdi patterns paper-cut into the framing mount, revealing a subtle yet opulent gold underlay.

Numerous shelves in the centre required a nuanced approach to decorative accessories and styling, prompting a multi-layered design strategy. Custom display methods, such as strategic hanging to maximize space and avoid voids, were employed. In the pursuit of a museum-like ambience, purpose-built display cases were created to showcase a diverse assortment of items, including pottery, textiles, weaving, basketry, musical instruments, framed photography, and an extensive collection of books on Saudi culture with a specific focus on arts and crafts, as well as Diriyah and Najdi Architecture.

A particularly attractive addition to the shelves were a series of integrated brass panels ornamented with metal cut designs inspired by Najdi geometric patterns.

In conclusion, the artwork and accessories within the Diriyah Sales Centre skillfully merge the elements of tradition and modernity. With careful curation, thorough research, and innovative design, the collection honors the region’s heritage, offering visitors an immersive and authentic experience as they delve into the vibrant tapestry of Saudi Arabia's central region.
