Sofitel Hotel, Riyadh, KSA
For the Sofitel Hotel Riyadh project, Saudi artist Dalal Al Hassan created a statement artwork installed within the hotel lobby, inspired by the Agal and Layla palm mat, elements rooted in Saudi heritage and traditional craftsmanship. Incorporating fan-like forms and traditional khous weaving, the work brings these references together with the silhouette of Dior’s iconic fan dress.
The composition creates a dialogue between Saudi craftsmanship and French fashion, reinterpreting familiar cultural forms through a contemporary artistic lens. Positioned within the lobby, the artwork brings together heritage, craftsmanship and contemporary expression, creating a distinctive visual presence within Sofitel’s refined interior.
