Introducing the Capsule Collection: Where Craft Meets Cultural Narrative

This May at Downtown Design Riyadh, Capsule Arts unveiled the Capsule Collection — a bold new chapter in our ongoing exploration of craft, culture, and storytelling through design.

Inspired by traditional Arab vessels and the rich heritage of regional textile traditions, the collection features a series of sculptural vases, each handmade in Dubai from terracotta and stoneware clay. Shaped on the wheel and refined by hand, every piece plays with contrast: soft off-white and cream glazes meet raw, textured finishes — creating forms that feel both contemporary and rooted in place. Designed to be both functional and expressive, the vases are water-safe and crafted to bring a thoughtful presence to modern interiors.

What sets the collection apart is its series of interchangeable rope embellishments — each referencing the cultural and geographic diversity of Saudi Arabia. Drawing from visual elements such as Al-Qatt Al-Asiri, the carved doors of Najd, Sadu weaving, and the symbolic layers of the bisht and agal, each rope tells its own story. From braided loops to structured knots, these tactile additions encourage a deeper engagement with the object.

Together, the vases and their embellishments invite interaction, personalisation, and reflection. Each pairing offers a quiet dialogue between past and present — a reminder that design can carry memory, identity, and meaning.
