Jeddah Islamic Art Biennial 2025
The Capsule Arts team recently visited the Islamic Arts Biennale in Jeddah, held at the iconic Hajj Terminal and organised by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation. The Biennale offered a thoughtful experience, combining newly commissioned contemporary artworks with historical Islamic artefacts to reflect on how faith is expressed through feeling, thinking, and making.
This year’s theme invited visitors to explore spirituality, identity, and the connection between past and present. Each exhibition space was carefully curated to encourage quiet reflection and cross-cultural dialogue.
As Saudi Arabia continues to invest in the cultural sector, the Biennale stood out as a strong example of how art can connect communities and offer fresh perspectives on heritage. It provided a platform for both established and emerging artists from around the world to contribute to the evolving conversation around Islamic art.
Our visit to Jeddah highlighted not only the strength of the local creative scene but also the role of art in shaping shared understanding.
