Rachael Brown Announced as Curator for World Art Dubai 2026

Capsule Arts is pleased to share that our Co-founder and Creative Director, Rachael Brown, has been appointed as one of four curators for World Art Dubai 2026, taking place from 22–26 April at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

This marks a new chapter in our long-standing partnership with the fair, which has consistently demonstrated the strength and growth of the region’s creative community. Over the years, Rachael has witnessed a clear rise in the calibre, confidence, and ambition of participating artists — a progression that continues to shape the fair’s evolving identity.

As part of the curatorial panel, Rachael will contribute to shaping this year’s edition by championing work that reflects thoughtful craftsmanship, strong narrative, and clear artistic intention.

Opportunities for Artists in 2026

World Art Dubai offers a number of pathways for artists to participate, experiment, and expand their visibility:

1. Exclusive Capsule Arts Artist Discount

Artists connected to Capsule Arts can access a special discount on exhibition fees as part of our partnership with the fair.

2. Exhibit as a Collective

Artists may apply individually or as a group. Collective participation allows artists to share booth fees, collaborate on a cohesive display, and present work in dialogue with one another.

3. Art Installation Proposals

The fair is accepting proposals for installations and spatial works. Artists developing larger-scale concepts are encouraged to share their ideas, which will be reviewed based on creative merit and alignment with the curatorial direction.

4. Artist-in-Residence Programme

Running prior to the fair, the residency offers selected artists studio time and public engagement opportunities in the lead-up to the event.

5. Public Art Programme

Developed in the months leading to the fair, the Public Art Programme focuses on outdoor or sculptural works that contribute to pre-fair visibility and wider community engagement.

Rachael’s Pointers for Artists Preparing to Exhibit

Drawing from her experience curating exhibitions and reviewing artist submissions across the region, Rachael highlights several considerations that help artworks resonate within a fair environment:

Authentic storytelling

Work that is rooted in a genuine idea or narrative naturally stands out. This could relate to material exploration, cultural references, personal experience, or a specific place or process. What matters most is clarity of intention — when an artist knows why the work exists, viewers feel that confidence in the final piece.

Originality and a recognisable body of work

Artists who demonstrate a consistent, identifiable direction in their practice show both depth and commitment. Originality, paired with evidence of technical skill and repeated exploration of form or material, reflects maturity and strengthens curatorial confidence.

Consistency in presentation

A fair booth is viewed as one cohesive space. Artists who present a focused selection — whether linked through palette, technique, subject, or medium — create a more memorable experience. Consistency does not limit creativity; it simply ensures that the works are speaking to each other in a way that feels intentional.

Quality over quantity

A refined presentation of fewer works often makes a stronger impact than filling every available wall. A well-edited display allows each piece to breathe and invites audiences to spend more time engaging with the work. This is particularly important in large fairs, where clarity and focus are key.

Thoughtful craftsmanship

Finishing and material choices shape how work is perceived. The framing, edges, hardware, and overall build speak to an artist’s care and technical skill. These details communicate professionalism and elevate the work, especially in a setting where many artists are presenting simultaneously.

Confidence in your positioning

Artists benefit from having a clear understanding of their price point and where their work sits within the wider market. Transparent and confident communication helps build trust with collectors and industry professionals, and reflects a mature approach to practice.

Engagement with the audience

Being present, open, and willing to speak about your work can lead to meaningful conversations and long-term opportunities. Many successful connections at art fairs start with a simple exchange about process or inspiration. Presence matters as much as presentation.
