Capsule Arts were appointed as art consultants to conceptualize, curate, and deliver a vibrant, site-specific art collection for Rove Marjan Island, continuing our long-standing collaboration with the Rove brand across seven properties. From the outset, our aim was to create an art narrative that felt youthful, rooted in place, and full of playful, unexpected moments.

Working closely with the interior design team at MMAC, we integrated art seamlessly throughout the hotel, creating a guest experience where every corner sparks curiosity and discovery. One of the first details guests encounter is a colourful wall installation spelling out #ROVE AROUND RAS AL KHAIMAH, presented in both English and Arabic. Bold, bright, and on-brand, it sets the tone from the moment of arrival.

A giant embroidered textile artwork spelling "ROVE" greets visitors with colour, movement, and patterns inspired by traditional weaving, while nearby a creatively embellished map installation invites guests to explore the region’s landmarks and coastal heritage. Continuing the storytelling, the Cabinet of Curiosities – a signature element developed for every Rove property – showcases a vibrant mix of framed art by local and regional artists, fabric hangings, abstract calligraphy, and curated ceramics, offering a layered glimpse into Ras Al Khaimah’s cultural landscape.

Throughout the hotel, art plays a leading role. In the luggage room, cascading marine ropes evoke the feeling of kayaking through the Emirate’s mangroves, while draped fishing nets over vintage photography celebrate its maritime traditions. In the kids’ play area, a colourful wall illustration captures beachside adventures, and the adjacent gym features dynamic graphics highlighting outdoor sports and activities.

In the all-day dining restaurant ‘The Daily’, engraved chopping boards display beach-inspired sketches, while framed artworks by Emirati artist Arwa Al Shamsi celebrate traditional coffee and tea rituals. The lift interiors transform into vertical galleries with bold collage-style graphics inspired by RAK’s natural beauty, while corridor artworks by Saroshi Michelle and Khalid Mezaina extend the local narrative through playful and expressive illustration.

In the guestrooms, the storytelling takes a softer, more intimate turn, with fiberglass badge artworks highlighting RAK’s maritime heritage, delicate mirror line drawings, and playful canvas prints reflecting the spirit of exploration. Outdoors, a striking series of sculptures shaped like flamingos, herons, and swans bring moments of whimsy to the pool deck, while playful graphics wrap the beverage truck and DJ booth vans, turning functional elements into creative focal points.

From the furniture accessories to the bespoke cushions designed by Capsule Arts Studio, every detail was thoughtfully curated and crafted to reflect Rove’s fresh, fun spirit and Ras Al Khaimah’s unique cultural identity. At Rove Marjan Island, art is not an addition – it is woven into the fabric of the hotel, shaping the space, connecting guests to the destination, and creating a vibrant and memorable experience.
